A six person delegation will be representing Malta in the forthcoming European Triathlon Union Championships in Alanya, Turkey on the 14th June. The team will be consisted of current male Duathlon Champion Fabio Spiteri, current male Triathlon Champion Keith Galea, current female Triathlon Champion Danica Bonello Spiteri, Hannah Pace and Johanna Calleja. The team will be accompanied by Cyprian Dalli, President of the Malta Triathlon Federation President.
Maltese athletes will be participating in their respective age groups competing against seasoned athletes in an Olympic distance covering a 1.5k swim, 40km cycle and 10km run. Malta Triathlon Federation President and Head of Delegation Cyprian Dalli, will be also be attending the European Triathlon Union (ETU) Annual General Assembly, which will also see a new Executive Board being elected. Malta’s recent success in securing support to develop a Youth Programme will also be discussed at length in one to one meetings with Mr. Zeljko Bijuk, ETU Development Coordinator. “In line with the Federation’s strategy to continue strengthening our performance at an International level, our presence at the European Championships will provide our athletes with the necessary experience and exposure” said Cyprian Dalli, President of the Malta Triathlon Federation. “The presence of five athletes at this sporting event is a first for our Federation and we will ensure that it will not be our last”. The Maltese Triathlon team will be in action on Friday, 14 June.
