The Race will be held at Coast Road, Bahar Ic-Caghaq and will start at 9am, immediately after the Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club Sprint Series and will consist of two distances. Children racing in the Under 12 Category will be required to take part in a 50m swim, followed by a 2km Bike ride and finish with a 500m Run. The Under 16 Category will consist of 100m swim, 4km bike ride and a 1km run. A Participation medal will be given to all those taking part.
“The Youth Triathlon Academy is an important milestone for Triathlon Malta as it seeks to nurture potential talent as well as encourage the take up of the sport from a very young age” said Dermot Galea, Co-ordinator of the Malta Youth Triathlon Academy. “Our Academy, which was made possible through the support of the European Triathlon Union and the Kunsill Malti Ghall-ISports, has been a great success thanks to the hard work of fellow coaches Matt Azzopardi and John Scicluna. The enthusiasm and commitment shown is encouraging and we will seek to continue the sessions throughout the winter”
Those taking part in this race are encouraged to come to the race venue prior to 7:15am in order to be able to see senior Triathletes race. Those who are not able to make it before this time, are kindly asked to park near the fruit vendor at the corner of the Bahar Ic-Caghaq Coast Road and Telgha ta’Alla w Ommu and make their way on foot towards the Start location. Road will be closed throughout this event and motorists should be advised accordingly. Cooperation from all is greatly appreciated.
