Mattea Grech, Jake Vella and Matthaeus Sciberras will be joining young athletes from all over Europe in Alicante, Spain to spend a week training in swimming, cycling and running under the supervision of top-notch qualified coaches.
Joining the three yound triathlon musketeers will be joined by Malta Youth Traithlon Academy Coach, Matt Azzopardi who will be joining the team of trainers for the duration of the camp.
'Our work in tandem with the European Triathlon Union (ETU) is leaving its mark in the development of triathlon in Malta' stated Cyp Dalli, President of the Malta Triathlon Federation. 'Apart from the continous support for the MYTA Academy, the ETU is also giving our young athletes an experience of a lifetime by accepting them in these coveted training camp. Matthaeus, Jake and Mattea will take the total number of young triathletes from Malta training under ETU traineeship up to 7 in less than 2 years. Hannah Pace, Shaun Galea, Nina Zammit and Neil Markham has represented Malta in similar camps in the last couple of seasons. Now that we are catering for a strong youth sector, we cannot but look in optimism to the future of the sport in Malta, and this all due to the great support and guidance of the ETU' concluded Dalli.
The training camp will be taking place in Alicante, a Mediterranean port city in Spain on the Costa Blanca, in the south of the Valencian Community. Spain is one of the best nations in the production of triathlon talent and home of the current World Champion, Javier Gomez Noya.
